DJ's @ Blowing Wild | | | | Simon Jay | |  | Simon has been Dj’ing for over 20 years. He started at the tender age of 13 (you can work out the rest). His first real ‘Gig’ was in a local club, then called ‘The George Club’, in his home town of Blackpool. I was there for more than 5 years working 6 nights a week. I've had a number of residencies over the years, one at Flashman's and one at a new local nightclub. I’m not going to mention the name, it was known locally as ‘Club Grot’ and it describes it to a tee and has now closed. I am currently resident in a new and exciting Nightclub in Preston called Blowing Wild. It has a nice intimate atmosphere, similar to the old Flamingo Club in Blackpool, so if you like your nights sweaty and fun come on down!
Simon remixes tracks for his sets sometimes too, and surprisingly some of them ended up being played all over Europe, and luckily he had a club hit with his bootleg version of ‘I Just Wanna Dance’ in Prague. Thanks to the DJ’s out there who supported it.

He got into dance music and started DJ'ing in the 1980's. He was the mainstay at the Flamingo in Blackpool and helped build the venue up to it becoming one of the premier gay clubs in the UK. He has gigged at various venues around the UK including Dot Cotton in Cambridge, The Syndicate in Blackpool, Confetti's in Leeds and various other venues in Manchester, Preston, Newcastle & Birmingham. He has also hosted and played the main stage at Manchester Pride a number of times along with appearances at Blackpool Pride. More suited to the big room style of playing, he plays very uplifting hands in the air type sets that move a crowd.
While DJ'ing still holds a major attraction he has become actively involved in the remixing and production side of things and works out of his home studio. I began working with primitive tools on the Commodore Amiga, taught myself to edit tape from watching an engineer in a studio. He has had remixes released in the UK & USA for Hazell Dean, Kelly Wilde & Abigail (now Abigail Zsiga). The Mach 12 track "Wonderful Life" was a studio project with a guest vocalist that he put together along with Col McKay which saw a release on the Gay Fest 2008 CD which he also supplied a full length CD mix for CD2.
